FIREPROOF HOUSING
A very big issue in Rural NSW is the question of Fire. We will have a general covenant for fireproof housing ... Ideally with structures build from natural products that will be covered in Earth (As Pictured Here) Let's be clear ... We do NOT want scrappy hippie houses or non-approved sheds. It's fine to use a shed as a starter, but it would devalue other people's efforts and good intentions if a person was not able to afford a decent house. However, you can have style, incredible appearance and really interesting housing at affordable costs and accordingly we will be aiming to create a statement to the entire district about what can be done. We will be appointing a number of sympathetic architects to supervise all housing applications and designs and it will be a condition of entry to the project that you agree to fit in with the fireproofing requirements ... This will need earth covered dwelling; Tilt Slab or Cob Housing with earth roof, as examples.
In regard to the disastrous fires in Victoria, proper house construction has become a real priority for country living. The only thing that stops fire and which is economical is earth and water, so we will be looking at design that incorporates these things as essential elements.
